Convulsion Scenario

You’re called to a 40-year-old male who is a known epileptic with an ongoing seizure. The patient has regular seizures, however this one seems more severe and has lasted longer than previous episodes. The patients’ wife usually cares for the patient during seizures, she has given 10mg of buccal midazolam approximately 10 minutes ago but has had no effect. The wife explains this is the second seizure but the first was only 1.5 minutes in length. You are now approximately 12 minutes into the second seizure.

His wife has tried to care for the patient the best she can. She has put a pillow under the patient’s head to protect from injury and is keeping the head as much to the side as possible to stop any choking risk.
