Child DIB Scenario

You are called to a 6-month-old male with abnormal breathing in the early hours of the morning. The call was triaged via NHS 111. The nearest Ambulance is 18 minutes away, but you are nearby, so you are asked to attend.

On arrival, the mother leads you to her baby lying on the sofa. She reports he has been unwell for 4–5 days. The GP saw him two days ago and advised it was viral, but his condition has worsened. You begin your initial assessment using the Paediatric Assessment Triangle.
