Hypoglycaemia Scenario (ECA)

You are called, with your regular Paramedic crewmate, to a 45-year-old diabetic patient whose wife has phoned due to new onset confusion and unsteadiness while walking. On arrival, the patient appears slightly clammy and confused, unable to answer your questions. They are alert but not orientated.

The wife explains she tried to give sugar, believing it to be the start of a hypoglycaemic episode, but the patient was unable to take it. Your crewmate is taken into the kitchen to speak with the wife, leaving you to manage the patient.
